    kglobal is looking for a Social Media Lead interested in playing an integral role conceptualizing and developing compelling material – to help our customers tell an impactful and cohesive story. This person will work directly on an exciting new opportunity with a civilian US Federal Government agency based in Washington, DC. As a critical member to the creative communications team, this social media guru thrives in a highly visible, fast-paced, time-sensitive IT environment, able to curate and convey technical and non-technical messages through the use of multiple social media mediums. A successful candidate is creative, fast on their feet, and self-driven. Candidates should also have an active SECRET security clearance and previous experience with social media for the federal government, specifically civilian agencies. Applicants should live in the greater Washington, DC area with the ability to work on client site for at least 32 hours per week.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    What You’ll Do:

    • Create/curate posts for social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and monitor owned social media accounts

    • Create content plan, write content, or curate posts for WordPress blog

    • Develop and execute on social media campaign strategies focused around both internal and external messages, events and news occurring in the client space

    • Create occasional basic graphics and videos

    • Take photos and video for use on social media pages and in printed products

    • Engage with relevant influencers/followers

    • Brief Federal government customers on social media “do's and don'ts” and basic US government-wide rules

    • Facebook pages for violations and reach out to the crew as necessary to correct and train

    • Curate content for the web team to post regarding ships and other fleet activities

    • Process and release official photos to Office of Public Affairs (OPA) points of contact

    Education and Experience Requirements

    Who You Are:

    • 6 years of relevant experience (experience in a federal government a plus)

    • A keen eye for style, design, and writing for web

    • Strong editing and proofreading skills with impeccable attention to detail

    • Experience managing social media accounts for a large organization

    • Energetic, passionate, and intellectually curious

    • Extra Credit: an awesome self-starter looking to showcase their creativity! 

    Security Clearance


    • This position will require U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance.
