Position Overview

ZENETEX has become a major force in the field of aircraft maintenance. We proudly support all four branches of the military in performing Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot level aircraft, ground vehicle, and component maintenance. We employ over 800 qualified Aircraft Mechanics across the United States and overseas. A new Contractor Field Team (CFT) award has created the opportunity for an experienced Ordnance Mechanic (Aircraft Mechanic II). This position will be part of an Intermediate-level maintenance team supporting FRCW Det China Lake NAWS. This is a union position. 


The Ordnance Mechanic will perform a variety of duties and tasks such as inspecting ammunition, testing aircraft systems, performing preventive maintenance and necessary repairs, loading and fusing ammunition, and arming/de-arming aircraft. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Operates and performs operator maintenance on armament weapons support equipment and aircraft armament equipment.
  • Loads and unloads airborne weapons and stores aboard aircraft to include reconfiguration and functional testing of aircraft weapons release and control, missile, and guns systems.
  • Removes, maintains, services, installs, and loads aircraft guns.
  • Arms and de-arms aircraft.
  • Conducts functional tests of racks, launchers, adapters and electrical components, aircraft armament circuits and maintains them in an operational status by appropriate preventive maintenance.
  • Configures or reconfigures assigned aircraft for carriage of any aviation ammunition within the capability of the aircraft by installing or removing racks, launchers, adapters, and electrical components.
  • Maintains and installs aerial target towing equipment; maintains and operates associated support equipment.
  • Applies bore sight procedures and techniques as applicable to aircraft sights and weapons systems.
  • Procures supplies, maintains records, prepares reports, and utilizes publications pertinent to aviation ordnance and aircraft armament equipment.
  • Performs quality control of work accomplished by the ordnance section on aircraft assigned.
  • Perform duties as wash crew and tow crew on occasions.


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 4 years of aviation maintenance experience
  • Experienced in unjamming weaponry
  • Possess a strong knowledge base of Maintenance Instruction Manuals (MIMs), maintenance publications, orders, and directives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fluids and gases and the principles of their use, as applicable to hydraulic/pneumatic systems
  • Practical knowledge of color-coded charts of aircraft plumbing, piping, lines and electrical systems and interpretation of technical data 
  • Must be able to and pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks, as well as meet the associated physical requirements

  • This position will require U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a National Agency background check, which could include a criminal history and credit check for access to government facilities.
