ZENETEX specializes in management and technology support services for a variety of Federal agencies and commercial organizations nationwide. “Because Service Matters” is our corporate cultural philosophy that brings total focus to both our employees and our customers. A brand new (five year) contract award has created the opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a brand new DoD initiative! 


The Senior Systems Engineer will provide a high level of support related to efficient and accurate development of U.S. Navy aircraft training systems. Tasking will include the following:

  • Analyze technical documentation and prepare technical design approaches for training system(s).
  • Develop cost and lead-time estimates for the training system to be developed.
  • Apply decision analysis techniques to ensure that the engineering approach is cost effective and satisfies the training objectives.
  • Develop quantitative criteria and recommend trade-offs regarding inputs received from supporting personnel concerning training system change(s).
  • Develop engineering specifications detailing design, performance, testing, and provisions for the acceptance of the engineering changes.
  • Evaluate technical proposals and work statements submitted by commercial Contractors or in­house resources. Recommend the best technical approach submitted in response to the specification. Conduct market research.
  • Continuously assess training system performance and recommend appropriate action when delinquencies of deficiencies occur.
  • Recommend changes to the training systems contract based on revisions to military training characteristics, changes to performance characteristics, or for pre-planned product improvements.
  • Monitor the configuration management of the training system.
  • Monitor and assess training system hardware and software development status and resolve related programmatic issues.
  • Identify problems being encountered in hardware and software development and provide recommendations as to how to resolve these problems.
  • Analyze potential requirements for modifications on training systems in the operational phase of the training system life cycle. This involves extensive research and coordination, including contact with fleet activities, Government laboratories, and device/system users.
  • Facilitate the activities of the Information Technology staff (System Administrators, Network Administrators) to maintain and improve the reliability, functionality, and cybersecurity posture.
  • Plan, budget, and execute systems, subsystems, simulators, and infrastructure repairs and upgrades, in conjunction with the System Support Activity.




  • Bachelor's degree in an IT/Computer/Engineering-related field of study is required
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Systems Engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop or evaluate military weapon systems and experience in providing technical management oversight of complex projects
  • Ability to implement, as part of program execution, NAVAIR’s Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR), Engineering Change Proposal (ECP), System Safety and Airworthiness processes
  • Effective and professional written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient with MS Office products


  • 10 years of practical experience in systems engineering associated with modeling and simulation within the training and training systems domains
  • 5 years of acquisition experience with three (3) years in a DoD program directly supporting training and/or Training Systems acquisition
  • 5 years of acquisition experience with support engineering functions such as reliability, maintainability, EMI, logistics, program funding, statistics, facilities, cost estimating, risk analysis/assessment, and human factors
  • 5 years of experience with military equipment, systems, and associated tactics (US, Allied, and threat nations)
  • 5 years of experience with a wide range of non-engineering, non-scientific information in the form of Federal Acquisition Regulations, Military Standards, Department of the Navy (DoN)/DoD/NAVAIR policies, directives, and instructions

Security Clearance


  • This position will require U.S. citizenship and a DoD Top Secret Clearance with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or Federal Investigation Standard Tier 5 (T5) or Tier 5 reinvestigation within the last 6 years.
